Debuting at Dubai Fashion Week S/S 2011 is Fatima Al Majid, with her brand“El Deseo”. The label, which means “The Wish” in Spanish, createsa wardrobe fit for a princess and one that every woman deserves. The unique creations blend the traditional silhouette with western design details. The designs were a tribute to the graceful Arabian woman.
Al Majid used free flowing fabrics such as silks and chiffons that fall beautifully. The collection focussed on formal and semi-formal designs wearable for any occasion. Brightly coloured robes were paired with patches of lightly embellished cloth in nude colours. The sinuous creations were minimally embellished allowing the cuts and layers to speak through. The 35 pieces on display were a riot of colours ranging from nude to midnight blue.
Elegant robes in solid colours were set off by red satin roses bordering the sleeves and necklines. Fur lining was used to decorate the necklines of nude coloured robes. A satin leopard print outfit with its attached hood and wide arms was appreciated by the audience.
Pakistani supermodel Kiran Malik, brought out the magnificent showstopper – a gem and pearl encrusted bodice with a dark blue skirt and an embroidered train that ended in feathers.
